NBC is intent on trying to "kill" American Idol (good luck with that) with their latest competition show, The Voice. Christina Aguilera joins Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green as coaches. No word yet on who the fourth coach will be. The actual premise of the show sounds a lot like Simon Cowell's 'X Factor.'
"Four musician coaches will select singers to mentor during the blind auditions. Once the team has been formed, the coaches will bring in their songwriters, producers and friends to help their teams grow. America will then decide which singer will win the prize of a recording contract and $100,000."
"To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms," Aguilera said in a statement.
This announcement comes a day after she was arrested for public intoxication. Hopefully this new job will encourage her to clean up her act a little bit. The star power is there, so this might be a hit.
'The Voice' will be hosted by Carson Daly, produced by mega-TV producer, Mark Burnett and will have a two-hour premiere Tuesday, April 26 at 9p.m. on NBC.
Are y'all gonna watch? Honestly, there are only so many TV hours in the DAY.
