Christopher Meloni Officially Joins ‘True Blood’

Chris Meloni is coming to Bon Temps!

HBO's True Blood is getting some new blood. Former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Christopher Meloni is joining the cast as a season regular for Season 5, an HBO spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Series creator, Alan Ball describes Meloni's role as, "an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands."  I predict lots of crying from Sookie.

Of course, this isn't the first time Meloni has worked for HBO. You might remember him from his role as Chris Kellar on the gritty prison drama Oz, which was a personal favorite of mine, although maybe I was too young to be watching it at the time.

I was sad to hear that he wouldn't be returning to SVU for it's latest season, but so excited that we'll soon be seeing him, and hopefully that body, on TV again!
