‘Cocaine Godmother’ Griselda Blanco Killed in Colombia – Who Will Be Cast in the Film?

"Live by the sword; DIE by the sword." Griselda Blano - DEAD
The Miami Herald reports that Colombian newspapers say Blanco stepped out of a butcher shop in Medellin only to be met with a hail of bullets.
“It's surprising to all of us that she had not been killed sooner because she made a lot of enemies,” former Miami homicide detective Nelson Andreu, who investigated her, said late Monday. “When you kill so many and hurt so many people like she did, it's only a matter of time before they find you and try to even the score.”
Blanco was arrested in 1985 in a cocaine trafficking case in New York, and she was released in 1998 to Florida authorities. She pleaded no contest in October 1998 to three counts of second-degree murder.
Police estimated she was involved in at least 40 homicides between Miami and New York. She is credited with importing to Miami the concept of the “motorcycle assassin” — killers on bikes who sprayed their victims with machine-gun bullets.
Griselda's Dade County mugshot
According to Colombia's Caracol Radio, Blanco was one of the first Colombians to traffic narcotics to the United States, earning her the nickname "Queen of Cocaine." Colombia's El Tiempo writes that Colombian authorities suspect Blanco ordered at least 250 killings.
Blanco was known for her eccentricities, including naming one of her sons after a character from The Godfather and creating custom underwear to smuggle drugs. As the Miami Herald notes: "She even had a Medellin lingerie shop custom design bras and girdles with special pockets to hold cocaine, a tool used by her drug mules flying to Miami."
Actor-Producer Mark Walberg has been working on bringing Blanco's story to the big screen for awhile now. He even mentioned on a radio show back in January of this year that Jennifer Lopez has been begging for the part of the Griselda, and that she thinks she'd win an Oscar for her performance. Uh. Okay. First of all? You are Puerto Rican, Jen. I can just picture you parading around by the pool with your boy-toy today pretending to be Griselda and honking about how "your" poster will be hung in all the thugs' walls. Ugh. Shut UP, JLo. And don't think for one second that you can just pretend of be Colohhhhhm-bian, because it's not cool for this particular role. We all know Sofia Vergara is going to put on her fat-suit, play down the tall and pretty while playing up the short and homely.
Oh, and on Twitter, feel free to witness all of the goons, dorks and wannabes who are all, "RIP Godmother!! We love you!" like they even KNEW her. This woman was a monster who committed her first murder at age 11 after kidnapping another child from a wealthy Colombian family. But of course, we do live in the age of Scarface worship, don't we? The fact of the matter is, this WOMAN would have made these very folks crap their pants if they made eye contact with her. SHE'S the reason Scarface and the Miami Vice TV series were made. And do I need to remind you that Mario Puzo based his Don Corleone character from The Godfather saga on his own MOTHER? That's right. Head bitches in charge personified.
So what I'm doing right now is speaking out of both sides of my mouth as I'm wont to do...and I own it. What.

Add this to your queue.
I do suggest you watch the documentary Cocaine Cowboys directed by Billy Corben and produced by Alfred Spellman and Billy Corben through their Miami-based media studio Rakontur. The film explores the rise of cocaine and resulting crime epidemic that swept the American city of Miami, Florida in the 1970s and 1980s. The producers of Cocaine Cowboys use interviews with law enforcement, journalists, lawyers, former drug smugglers and gang members to provide a first hand perspective of the Miami drug war.
We'll see how all this plays out. Funny, I haven't seen much of this story on the news. That's why we're here, my friends.
