In group, Ryan finds himself feeling confident enough to give away his wife's old sewing machine to Sonia, but Lauren warns him that it might be too soon to take that step. Anne voices her frustration with having to turn down a friend's wedding invitation because she doesn't want to go alone, and in a sweet gesture Ryan offers to be her plus one and go to the wedding with her.
At work, Ryan finds himself on cloud nine after receiving an invite to a professional hockey player's private celebrity pick up game. Ryan's been trying to get into this game for 5 years and appears to be snubbed again this year, but Steven works his magic on the hockey player using Ryan's dead wife as a tool for emotional leverage. At the pick-up hockey game everyone lets Ryan score when word gets out that his wife died, unfortunately Ryan isn't aware of this and after scoring a couple easy goals lets his success go to his head.
At the wedding, Ryan encourages Anne to pursue interest shown in her by another woman there ("Sasha") and when Anne expresses reservations thinking that it's too soon, Ryan takes it on himself to go talk to Sasha on Anne's behalf. As a result Sasha introduces herself to Anne and the two appear to hit it off. The next day Ryan cries on air after seeing a picture of the sewing machine he gave away.
Anne vents some concerns about Sasha after receiving several texts from her after the wedding. Ryan urges Anne to meet up with her in a public setting but when she does Sasha attempts to kiss her and Anne freaks out.
Anne visits Ryan at his house afterward and decides that she needs to get her first kiss milestone out of the way before she can move on and grabs Ryan and plants one on him then leaves. The episode concludes with the entire group at Ryan's hockey game cheering him on but this time he knows everyone was taking it easy on him and in an effort to "live a life of truth" Ryan encourages all to hit him with their best shot... And they do, mercilessly.
