Hall Berry Graces The Cover of Vogue’s September Issue

Now THIS is a "September Issue".

If you weren't aware, the September issue of a fashion magazine is a very big deal. For Vogue, it's their largest of the year. The biggest was 840 pages and weighed 5 pounds.  I'm sure at least 50 of those pages weren't ads.  That record breaking issue from 2007 was featured in the documentary The September Issue.

Halle is a Goddess

I haven't bought a fashion magazine in months. I flip through them and write down the designers or websites to check out. I just don't think it's worth it to buy them anymore. The same actresses are on the cover every other month, being asked the same questions they have been asked countless times before. While I was waiting in line at Harris Teeter, I saw copies of US Weekly displayed next to Life & Style, or another one of those tabloids that like to pretend they aren't tabloids. Both had Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston on the cover with the same lame story. I just rolled my eyes prepared myself for more of those covers. Jennifer has a movie coming out soon. Le sigh.

Timeless BEAUTY.

Halle is the first black female to be on the cover of Vogue's September issue since Naomi Campbell in 1989.  Competing with Vogue, Harper's Bazaar has Jennifer Aniston (IT BEGINS!) and Elle has Julia Roberts. I won't be buying either one of those, although I consistently flip through Elle at my local Barnes & Noble. I think Halle looks gorgeous on the cover, and inside, sporting a Louis Brooks style wig. In the mag, the 43 year old talks about the "Oscar Curse" and her breakup with model Gabriel Aubry.  This is her first interview in three years, “I was burned-out with having other people tell the story about me that they wanted to tell.  I told my publicist, ‘I’m not going to talk anymore. I’m just going to live my life and be who I am.’”

Oh, Halle. Look at that velvet dress...

You can read the rest of Halle's interview when the issue hits newsstands on August 24.
