Happy 63rd birthday, Mr. Bowie.

I'm reluctantly recommending Christiane F. as this weekend's recommended movie.  It's grim.  REALLY grim.  I saw it on "The Ave" in Seattle back in 1981.  As I recall, it was rated X--before the NC-17 rating was implemented.   There were sounds of the audience groaning in disgust, and many of them walked out.  I can't remember how long I stayed...I do think it was til the end.

Christiane is a young girl living in Berlin, who is seduced by a new "discotek"  and vividly shows her descent into drugs and prostitution, while  David Bowie's iconic persona hovers above.  This German film is every art-school student's happy little nightmare.  It's a dark, scary and raw film.

Don't say I didn't warn you.  There's quite a bit of  needles, blood and vomit.

I own this album.
