After Madonna's eldest daughter Lourdes was seen smoking a cigarette in New York recently, many questioned the Material Girl's parenting skills, and if she condoned of the bad habit. Madonna told Harry Smith in an interview for NBC's 'Rock Center with Brian Williams' that she wasn't "very happy" about seeing the 15-year-old smoking.
"But honestly, I don't think I'm as tough as I should be. I think I need to be maybe tougher. It's hard -- every day is a negotiation. But cigarette smoking I'm not very fond of -- for anyone."
I guess she forgot that she also lights up in her new video for "Girls Gone Wild." When Smith bought this up, she lashed back by saying,
"Yeah, I don't smoke. That's just an accessory, Harry. There's a difference," Madonna pointed out. "She smoked that cigarette before I did that video, so she didn't' get that from me, OK?"
Madonna also spoke about how hard it is to be a single parent to four young kids. "It's pretty challenging. But so far I've survived with sanity and humor intact." Even though she's still one of the biggest stars in the world, she admitted that "it's hard to sell albums."
Her latest, MDNA, took a huge 88% plunge from the charts after it's second week on sale. Despite that, she's embarking on a huge world tour and has a new perfume out called what else, Truth Or Dare. Wonder if it has notes of tobacco.
