Madonna in the South of France, scouting locations for “W.E.” – and smoking?

Madge, in the South of France with a ciggie and a lighter. Wow.

Really, Madonna?  Jaaayzus.  I just wrote a post about Stupid Jessica Alba smoking in France--is there a new requirement that once you hit the tarmac, you're supposed to light up?  I'm surprised...shocked, even.

So, here's Madge, on a boat of some sort (I refuse to say "yacht" for personal reasons--don't ask) with what appears to be a ciggie in one hand and a cheap-ass Bic lighter in another.  Say it with me: "It's not MINE! I was holding it for a friend!"

Just in case you aren't aware of Madonna's movie-sorry, film, here's a quick synopsis of "W.E."

via DailyMail.com

"The movie centres on the late British monarch King Edward VIII and his decision to abdicate the throne for his American divorcee lover Wallis Simpson.

Madonna arrived at Nice airport to film key scenes earlier this week and went straight to Villefranche where she took a trip out in the bay on the boat.

The yacht may be stand in for the Nahlin, the Royal yacht which Edward used to take Mrs Simpson on a cruise around eastern Europe after he ascended the throne in 1936."

I wonder if Madonna smokes with Lola around, or just with Taylor Momsen?

  1. It could be a prop for the film. They were shooting a scene at that moment.

  2. i don’t think the former king of england and ms. simpson used a bic lighter, lol, oh wait, maybe its for the flipside of the story, the modern day storyline, that makes sense. Madonna is so disciplined i can’t imagine she smokes but really, if it is her only vice….. who the hell is my fat drinking pot smoking ass to say anything, lol, oh but me and tim DiD quit smoking cigarettes 18 days ago! never again do i want to go thru that hell! quiting meth was by far easier then nicotine!

  3. also she holds it like someone who doesn’t smoke

    • Boys…

I just can’t see Madonna holding someone else’s ciggie and dirty Bic lighter just to be nice, can you? Come ON.

I’m so thrilled for both of you and your success quitting those “fags”. (wink wink)

      xoxo j

  4. I am fully ware of the dangers of smoking, and I don’t smoke. But the sanctimonious tone of this post has me cringing. I just spent two weeks with my aunt while she attended her only child as he died in a hospice. She’s never been a smoker, but on a tough day she bought a pack and smoked a cigarette and threw the rest away. Oh and she did it in front of her son. Who was dying. And the hospice workers, who looked away.

The shaming you direct toward Madonna when you wonder aloud whether she smokes in front her daughter is disheartening.

Here’s an idea. The next time you see an entertainer holding an unlit cigarette as a prop, how about you just see it for what it is. How about you don’t run to the barn and grab your pitchfork and declare this woman the worst mom on earth?

    Just a thought.

    • Here’s the thing. My beloved grandmother, Babe, died from complications of smoking-related cancer. I’m sorry for your loss.

My issue isn’t about the smoking, as much as it is the veil that Madonna and her ilk (i.e. Paltrow) live behind–the yoga, the Pilates, the organic foods. I was simply making a statement: Smoke if you’re going to…just don’t throw your so-called pristine health regimen down our bloody throats.

I also don’t believe I even came close to declaring Madonna “the worst mom on earth”. She seems to have a lovely relationship with her children, particularly Lola.

Please don’t read more into my post than was actually written. I’m not sure if you’re a regular reader–and I hope you are–you should know that I reveal very personal issues that I have struggled with myself, but Dipped in Cream IS a celebrity gossip site for the most part, though.

I do appreciate your taking the time to comment. Thank you… j

p.s. Both of my grown children smoke. I never did, and their dad never did. It makes me sad.
