Men’s Wearhouse Suit Drive 2012

The Men’s Wearhouse fifth annual National Suit Drive began yesterday, June 27th and lasts through July 31st.  This is a generous and powerful program which assists unemployed men in need of a professional look, in order to assist in bringing out their best; if you look confident and professional–it shows.

At Men’s Wearhouse, we know that not being dressed appropriately can affect employment opportunities. Although we donate millions of dollars of our merchandise, we are not able to provide professional attire for many men across the nation. That’s why we have started hosting an annual National Suit Drive.

"We partner with over 200 nonprofit organizations across the country to distribute the gently used professional attire we collect to men and women who are transitioning into the workforce. For many of these at-risk recipients, the clothing they receive will give them a first confident step toward a second chance, while the nonprofit services provided will help transform them on their journey to self-sufficiency. We are confident that the impact made by helping these men and women become independent will positively affect their families and their communities.

In order to assist the thousands who are unemployed, we also partner with businesses and community organizations by encouraging their employees and members to donate their own gently used professional clothing.

Even celebrities are getting in on generosity of the Suit Drive:

Broadway’s biggest stars helped to support Men's Wearhouse’s fifth annual National Suit Drive during the 66th Annual Tony Awards Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat. Tyler Perry, Amanda Seyfried, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and John Larroquette were among the stars who personally styled professional suits to inspire looks to be donated to National Suit Drive. Their generosity will help men in need transition back into the workforce in each celebrity’s hometown."

We are all well-aware of the economy situation and the lack of jobs, don't we?  But how are these proud men (and women) expected to dress appropriately for an interview when money is scarce?  This program is a step in the right direction.  Do the right thing and donate your fella's suit (that maybe he's outgrown); help a stranger, then buy a new suit while you're at it...what goes around comes around.
