Closing in on Danny 

The show opens with Charlie and Miles capturing a republic scout and questioning him about the location of Danny and Captain Tom.  En route to meeting up with Maggie and Aaron Charlie presses Miles about his past and what he's done as the former founder of the republic but gets a warm cup full of Shut-The-Hell-Up for her trouble.  Maggie and Aaron are at the meet up point Miles gave to them before he and Charlie set out to find Nora.  Aaron convinces Maggie that they shouldn't tell anyone, not even Charlie about the power pendant.

Once everyone meets up they start on their way to get Danny but Aaron gets bit in the leg while being chased by wild dogs.  While tending to Aaron's wounds Maggie gets the feeling she's being watched... Dum dum duuuuunn!!!  Nora calls Miles a dick for trying to push Charlie away.  Miles says he doesn't know why he's even helping Charlie and says he's going to leave when they get to Danny.  The group continues to move through the night when the audience is shown that an old dirty looking man and his dog (not the dog that bit Aaron) are following them.

The next morning while traveling through an old amusement park Miles is attacked by Nate (*ugh* I get it!  Teenage girls need a reason to watch too, I guess) and Nate (along with being annoying) is about to get the crap beat out of him when Charlie intervenes.  Charlie convinces Miles to keep him for questioning instead hoping that he can give them info on Danny.

Maggie and Miles talk, Maggie's uses her blackout experience to tell Miles the importance of family.  The wild dogs show back up and since there are no babies around ("Maybe a dingo ate your baby!") they chase after the group.  Everyone makes it to safety inside a nearby diner except Maggie who gets grabbed by the Dirty Old Dog Man.  DODM stabs Maggie in the leg then runs off, upon further review DODM hit an artery.  Looks like somebody's not gonna make to episode 5 (Whoever had "Stabbed to death by DODM" on their bingo cards is a big winner!) unless someone can sow up her nicked artery.  Charlie volunteers but somehow is snatched away from the diner by DODM while she goes for supplies, is DODM is on fire or what!  Miles takes Nate to go after Charlie.  Aaron performs the procedure but Maggie's lost too much blood.  (It's soo harrrrd to saaay goood byyyyyeee toooo yesterdaaaaay.) With Maggie dead and Charlie a wreck Miles decides to stay.

DODM has a Nice House 

Back at DODMs compound Charlie tries to make small talk and learns that DODM lost his family shortly after the blackout and all he has left are his dogs.  DODM has Charlie tied up and booby trapped.  When Miles and Nate show up Nate kills DODM but the two walk into and set off the booby trap but Charlie makes a narrow escape.

 Maggie's Flashback 

Before she bite it Maggie has a flashback about her blackout experience and how she was in the states and away from her children when it happened.  After literally traveling across America she's told by a fisherman in New York that all the ships that could have taken her back to England have either been destroyed or stripped for parts.  Presumably she has yet to see them since...  How sad.

Danny and Captain Tom 

It's nighttime, Captain Tom is about an hours march away from the republic but the weather is about to turn bad so at Danny's urging he halts the march and sets up camp.  They fine shelter just before a nasty storm hits and Danny is left alone by his guard to help secure the structure.  Of course Danny makes a run for it but Captain Tom catches him and throws him into a nearby storm shelter just before a tornado touches down.  Once inside Danny and Captain Badass have a heart to heart chat.  Danny calls Tom a monster and Tom justifies his cruelty.  The tornado stops and in a surprising moment the shelter collapses on Tom leaving him at Danny's mercy.  Tom Jedi mind tricks Danny into saving him then the second he's free puts Danny back in handcuffs, silly Danny.

 What's Rachel Doing Here? 

Rachel is still at Monroe's compound.  She drawing something that looks like the donkey wheel from LOST in an old journal.  She stops her drawing when Monroe enters.  Monroe questions her about what her husband was working on right before the blackout and why did he call Miles right before it happened.  Rachel gives up nothing so Monroe threatens her with torture.  The next day Monroe questions Rachel some more and tells her that if she won't talk then she will after he starts torturing her son Danny.  Rachel thinks back to the day she left her family and it's revealed that Miles was responsible for her leaving.

The scene implies that if Rachel hadn't left Miles would have done Ben and her family harm.
