‘Revolution’ Recap – ‘Chained Heat’

Opening scene

The episode starts with a flashback to Charlie as a child, one week has passed since the blackout. Young Charlie is made to swear to her mother that she never let her little brother Danny out of her sight. To present day, 15 years later Charlie's thoughts are interrupted by the sounds of sword play. Miles out duels a bounty hunter sent by the Monroe Republic, but at Charlie pleads with him to let him live.  He lets him live only to be tracked down later by the same man in a local Bazaar while looking for "Nora" a contact who would help Miles and company infiltrate the Republic's stronghold to free Danny but this time the hired sword brings help.

No matter, Miles is a supreme badass and dispatches them all and learns that Nora was imprisoned in a Republic work camp years ago and is probably dead by now.

Captain Nevelle's Desert Eagle

With Danny still in chains Captain Neville comes across a man harboring firearms and an old American flag, clear violations of republic law.  The man kills one of Neville's men when he orders his house be searched but the good captain's Desert Eagle makes short work of him. "Burn everything!!!" he says. Captain Neville is NOT one to be eff'd with...

Torture Time

Back at Republic HQ Monroe questions a prisoner about the location of his other rebel companions, it seems that the rebels are always a step ahead of Monroe and their constant attacks are threatening the "peace" he's created. When the idiot prisoner tells Monroe he's not scared of him Monroe kills him.

Campfire Talk

It's nighttime and Miles decides that its safer if he searches for Nora alone. He tells Charlie, Aaron and Maggie to meet him in Lowell(?) Indiana in two weeks. The trio is pretty ticked but considering that Charlie almost got Miles killed I don't blame him. The next morning Maggie and Aaron awake to find that Charlie has ran off after Miles. Aaron convinces Maggie not to go after Charlie.

Reconnaissance

While searching for Miles Charlie is followed by Nate, a Militia scout who has a soft spot for the young girl but walks into a trap set by Charlie, she asked Nate why he bothered to save her life if he's just following orders to capture Miles and Nate gives her a smoldering eyes boy band gaze that Nick Lachey would be proud of.

Mercy Killing

While on the road Captain Neville conducts a mercy killing on the man who was shot earlier in the episode. After watching the captain go Dr Kavorkian on one of his own soldiers Danny calls him a murderer and gets nearly choked out for his trouble.

The Shinny Computer Mcguffin Thingy

Aaron shares with Maggie that before her boyfriend Ben died he gave him a device that holds the key to bringing the power back on and that he was to go find a woman named Grace Beaumont (Maria Howell) in Illinois who would know what to do with it. Aaron theorizes that the blackout was man made.

Hot Slave Nora

Charlie catches up with Miles and convinces him to take her with him after recounting how Danny was captured while she pouted back at the commune. Miles and Charlie find Nora (Daniella Alonso) on a chain gang dragging a helicopter to the republic base. Nora's hot. Miles and Charlie wait till night fall to free her but she's reluctant to join them. Eventually she agrees but only if they help her steal a sniper rifle which she plans to sell on the black market for a small fortune. Charlie is the only one who can walk into the camp unrecognized but Miles doubts that she has it in her to kill the guard holding the rifle but Miles is wrong and shit gets cray cray as Nora, Miles and Charlie butcher the remaining guards. In the aftermath it's revealed that Nora is a rebel and the resistance is headed by American freedom fighters.

Can't end it without a WTF moment

While Aaron and Maggie are en routine to Grace Beaumont's home an unseen intruder Grace refers to as "Randall" beat them there and presumably captures or kills Grace. Oh, and for good measure he's wearing one of those power thingies too. Finally we are shown Monroe talking to a woman who appears to be Charlie's mom, who Charlie believes died years ago. The two exchange barbs before Monroe tells her that her husband Ben has died and he has her son hostage.

Wait. What?
