October’s Best Horror Offerings From Brittani ~ The Ghoul You Want (Derrrrp)

Silent Hill Toronto Locations...even THAT is creepy!
If you need help getting your horror fix this month, look no further! There are plenty of movies and marathons to keep you scared, but if you're not into monsters and serial killers, there's always the presidential debates.

'Sinister' starring Ethan Hawke opens this weekend and it has been getting surprisingly good reviews. The plot is familiar, the Oswald family moves into a house where a number of murders happened. Instead of leaving, dad Ellison decides to found out what happened to the slaughtered family that lived there before them. A true crime novelist, Hawke's character can't help himself, and digging around in the attic he finds tapes of the murders committed by an entity named Bagul, or Mr. Boogie. The movie promises lots of good scares and it's villain is sure to haunt your nightmares.

'Paranormal Activity 4' opens October 19. There have been 4 of these movies in the past 5 years, and although I don't get the hype around them, they have a strong following and this one leaves the possibly leaves the door open for a spin-off series. A sequel to 'Paranormal Activity 2,' it takes place five years after the events of that film when Katie kidnapped Hunter. They move next door to new characters Alice, her family and boyfriend Alex and then, well if you've seen the first three then you know happens.

'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' opens October 26. A sequel to the creeptastic and underrated 'Silent Hill,' this follows Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemons) as she discovers on her 18th birthday that she isn't who she thought she was, and seeks to find her true identity in the town of Silent Hill. Sean Bean, who might die in this one, Radha Mitchell and Deborah Kara Unger return from the first film. Rounding out the cast are Carrie-Ann Moss who plays the leader of a cult and Kit Harrington, a man also trapped in Silent Hill's alternate universe. (Don't forget to check out our behind-the-scenes photos from the super-creepy Silent Hill locations--seriously, scroll down on this link!)

If you're looking for something a little less gory, you can check out the classic 'Frankenstein' and 'The Bride of Frankenstein' on October 24th in select theaters nationwide. The newly restored movies are introduced by TCM host Robert Osborne presenting interviews conducted at this year's "TCM Classic Film Festival" with Boris Karloff's daughter Sara and Bela Lugosi, Jr.. Award winning makeup artist Rick Baker also joins the conversation to talk about how the legendary icons and the monsters they played influenced his work and the horror genre.
If you're like me and hate leaving the house when it's not absolutely necessary, there are plenty of new dvd releases and movies to catch on TV.

The much talked about 'V/H/S' got mixed reviews from critics and viewers, but you can judge the movie for yourself by catching it on Amazon Instant Video and iTunes.

'American Horror Story: The Complete First Season' is now on DVD and Blu-ray. Season 2, Titled 'Asylum' starts Wednesday night on FX at 10 p.m. Check out the first five NSFW minutes on the show's official Facebook page.

Season 3 of 'The Walking Dead' starts Sunday night on AMC at 10 p.m. To get prepared for the season premiere, watch TWD's 4 webisodes featuring some suspicious survivors at the show's official site. Don't forget that 'The Talking Dead' hosted by Chris Hardwicke also returns this Sunday after TWD's premiere.
AMC also kicks off it's annual "Fear Fest" from October 13-31. It will be hosted by Kevin Smith this year, boo, but you can expect to see all of your favorite horror villains including Michael Meyers and Jason Voorhies and many of King of Scream Stephen King's movies like 'The Dead Zone' and "Thinner.'
SyFy's "31 Days of Halloween" is already underway. The channel will be ending the month with it's 'Ghost Hunters' marathon and a live edition of it's SFX competition show 'Face Off.' Check here for the full schedule of movies and shows.
Chiller will be premiering new movies to the channel all month. 'Dead Souls' starts on Friday, and 'Hush' premiers on October 19. If you've ever wanted to know about the lives of haunted house enthusiasts, and I ask you why, then you'll want to check out the documentary 'The American Scream.' It follows the lives of people who wish that it could be Halloween all year long. The movie premiers on Sunday October 28. Take a look!
Looking for something a little more tame for kids, or the scaredy cats, there is ABC Family's "13 Nights of Halloween" beginning on October 19. 'Hocus Pocus' is always a sure thing, but the network added some newer movies to it's annual fest with 'Coraline' and 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice.' You can also expect Halloween themed episode of 'Pretty Little Liars' and 'Switched At Birth.' Check out the schedule!

The HUB network has a gem in 'R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour.' It reminds me a lot of shows I grew up with like 'Are You Afraid of The Dark' and 'Goosebumps' which was also based on Stine's work. A lot of the stories are genuinely creepy and it will premiere it's 3rd season this Saturday at 6 p.m. with a two-part episode with "bite." Here is the preview featuring Christopher Lloyd as "Grandpire."

Separated at Birth: Suri (aka Stinkfoot) and Samara (aka The Girl from ‘The Ring’)

GAAAAH!!!
You guys. It's not just me, is it? This kid is scaring me, and I'm not even kidding. If I had to be left alone in a room with Suri (Stinkfoot) Cruise, I think I'd go out of my ever-lovin'.

Poor Samara...
I feel sympathy not fear for the character, Samara from "The Ring" in comparison to that little cray-cray, wild-eyed, over-indulged child of Co$ up there. Look at her EYES!
I won't sleep tonight...and neither will YOU.

That Powder on Eva Longoria, Nicole Kidman and Ashley Judd? Yeah. I GET It.

Eva and Nicole use it...

Ashley Judd used it, too...
These poor, poor women. Don't you feel just so, so very sorry for their plight? I mean...look at them. Covered in white. Of course, everyone laughed when the photos were released. "How could they NOT SEE IT?" The sad, unfortunate dears.
Snort. (Not that kind of snort. Jeez.)
Let me introduce you to the culprit. I held my very own investigation (not really, but sort of), and found The Truth. It's called Make-Up Forever.

Makeup Forever’s HD High Definition Powder – $30 – Sephora

It's completely translucent and goes on any skintone. Its talc-free formula does not dry the skin and is formulated with 100% silica. Dermatologically tested.
Seriously. This could be YOU...because that is ME. In real-life, I was COMPLETELY FLAWLESS (well, whatever...). Then my husband took this horror-show of a photograph of me after using the aforementioned product.
I think I'll go join the icky traveling carnival now. This one.

Silent Hill 2 Set - Toronto

Won't someone PLEASE show me how to use this product properly?? I don't want to end up here!

Hmmmm....I wonder why?
Ahhh, yes. (Even though, if you watch the video, you can see it was meant for a certain former-U.S. President...)

New Teaser for AMC’s “The Walking Dead”
I love zombies and that's why I am so excited for AMC's next offering, The Walking Dead. Based on the comic book series, the show will premiere Halloween night with a 90 minute episode. The series, which will run for 6 episodes, began shooting back in May in Atlanta, Georgia. It was shot on 16mm film, so you know it will have a cool, realistic feel.
AMC has been churning out quality programming, including Mad Men and Breaking Bad, for awhile so I know this will good. Even though it is cable television, don't worry about the lack of gore. Robert Kirkman, who created The Walking Dead comic says "the stuff that AMC is going to put on air is crazy!" You know we love crazy around here.
The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the country in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln. The cast also includes Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Sarah Wayne Callies and Jeffrey DeMunn. Frank Darabont serves as executive producer, and co-wrote the first three episodes. I always look forward to AMC's Fearfest and Monsterfest during Halloween, this is a great addition.
