The Voice Recap, Blind Auditions Round 3

Mondays decided to not suck for once and there was a lot to watch and catch up on so forgive me if my recap is a little short. The Voice continued on with their blind auditions, there weren't too many standouts but the show took an interesting turn with it's very first contestant.

Sarah Golden
The whole non-gimmick gimmick of the show is that "looks don't matter, it's all about the voice." That's the point that Sarah Golden drove right into a home during her package. We didn't get to see her face until Cee Lo finally turned around for her, but I felt like it was sort of a cheap ploy to get us to root for her when her voice wasn't anything special. Perhaps Lady Gaga's "You & I" was a bad choice, especially since it seemed like she hardly knew the words, or maybe that was just her weird enunciation. Ultimately she chose to be on Team Cee Lo, so it'll be interesting to see what he will do with her.

Pip and his bow tie
Then there was Pip Andrew, who looked like if he didn't get picked he was going to go audition for Glee right after. It was the bow tie, but like Adam said, "it takes a real man to wear a bow tie." All four coaches turned around before he was even done singing "House Of The Rising Sun," and Blake tried to persuade him to join his team by telling him he would, so far, be the only guy on the team. The promise of being surrounded by boobs didn't quite do it for me, so score one for Team Adam.
Because Cee Lo's come-ons are creepy enough, we were introduced to Geoff McBride who wears sunglasses to hide a freak accident which tore out his retina. Yes, his retina. But the sunglasses did add to his "cool factor," and he won over the coaches and the audience with Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground." Christina tells Geoff that even though she doesn't look like Cee Lo "she has soul." That was enough for Geoff and he joined Team Christina.
Cee Lo did score another team member with Erin Martin, who used to be a model and decided it was a good idea to dress up as an Egyptian princess or something. I wasn't all that impressed with her Macy Gray lite vocals, but it, or her looks, had Blake and Cee fighting over her. Then there was James Massone. I usually love people that don't sing how they look, I'm not sure what I was expecting from this kid but he busted out with Drake's "Find Your Love" and I was shocked at his voice. Honestly, he sounded like a black kid and the coaches, especially Cee Lo who he picked, were all shocked that he was just a white kid from Boston. Winter Rae, who had more tattoos than Adam and Cee Lo put together, impressed them with her version of Rihanna's "Take A Bow." I'll try to ignore the fact that she's friends with a blogger who shall not be named (ugh!), but she was okay.
So far all the coaches have 6 team members, except Blake. The Blind Auditions will continue and then we can get to the fun part of the show: The Battles!
