The Walking Dead Recap, ‘Save The Last One’

Just as this episode was boring me to those salty things called tears, BAM! Sh*t got real, and scary. But most of it was still pretty boring.

Dr. Herschel performs surgery on Carl, saving his life after an intense seizure. Before, Rick and Lori debated on whether they should even bother to try to save their son. There's not much to look forward to in the zombie-occupied world, and Lori worries that Carl will just end up running his entire life. Andrea and Darryl walk through the woods looking for Sophia, and they come upon a walker hanging in a tree. One of the few creepy moments, but as Darryl points out, he was too stupid to simply shoot himself in the head. The two seemed to be getting a little close, but at this point if Andrea is going to leave or off herself she needs to do it quickly. Her whining is getting pretty old.

T-Dog and Glenn make it back to the house, as does Shane but without Otis. Throughout the episode we see bits of Shane and Otis trying to escape the hoard of walkers looking to eat them. Shane comes back the hero, Lori even asks him to stay but of course his account of what happened to Otis is a total lie. As he shaves his head and checks out his battle scars, he flashes back to what really happened. As the walkers grow closer, Shane shoots poor Otis in the leg and then stabs him to keep him down. He leaves him for the walkers so that he can get back to the truck. Ugh. I can understand why he did it, maybe even because if it wasn't for Otis, Carl wouldn't have been shot, but Shane's actions are becoming increasingly erratic. Not to mention dangerous and just plain crazy.

So, overall it was an okay episode. Not much happened until the end, next week's looks more exciting. Lingering questions: What did the doctor whisper to Rick at the end of last season? It hasn't been that long since that happened, but Lori doesn't look pregnant. Where is Darryl's brother?! Why is Glenn so cute? Okay, maybe the last one isn't a real question but can we get more things for Glenn to do please!
