The Walking Dead Recap, “Walk With Me”

We got a break from Rick and the gang at the drab prison to catch up with Michonne and Andrea. It was a little weird to have an episode without Rick, who has been in every one since the beginning, but I'm sure we didn't miss much of him doing "things." Andrea and Michonne are rescued, or taken prisoner, by The Governor and brought to the seemingly peaceful town of Woodbury. Are they safe, or will they be on the run again?

Three soldiers aboard a helicopter crash land into the woods, Michonne and Andrea stand in the road and watch the black smoke billow into the sky. Walking over to the crash site, Michonne sees that two of the men are dead but before she can investigate further they see two trucks arrive with a group of men. They stab the two dead men and remove the pilot from the plane. They almost leave until they hear Michonne's pets growling by the trees. She chooses to decapitate them with her sword but they are found by Merle Dixon who is surprised to see Andrea.

In a doctor's office, Merle asks Andrea about Daryl and the the rest of the group. She tells him that her sister died and while his brother was alive when she last saw him months ago she doesn't know where he is now. Knowing that something is not quite right about this place or any of these people, Michonne demands they be released and given back their weapons.

Their dear leader, The Governor, assures them that they aren't prisoners and are free to leave whenever they want to with their weapons. When asked why re-killed the already dead soldiers, The Governor in so little words explains that they are all infected. Andrea was already separated from the group when Rick told the others so it was interesting to see her react to the news.

The Governor and another resident of Woodbury show them around the town where there is electricity, food and a very strict enforced curfew. While Rick and the other survivors struggle to make it in a prison that they are constantly on guard in, think about how much better things would be for them in Woodbury. A safe place for Lori to have baby, but much like Michonne, I don't think Rick would take too well to the mysterious Governor.

Talking to the injured pilot, The Governor promises to bring them to the town if he tells him where they are. His creepy little scientist friend Miltion later explains to him how Michonne kept her pets from wanting to eat and used them as "camoflauge" to ward off other walkers. He presses the ladies at breakfast the next morning about whether they think the walkers, or as they call them "lurkers" and "biters," retain memories from when they were human. Michonne almost refuses to talk to them, or drink that suspect tea. Andrea is more than happy to stay in Woodbury, even though Michonne clearly wants to get the hell out of dodge. She asks Michonne why she was so quick to decapitate her pets when they had helped protect them all winter. "It was easier than you think," Michonne tells her before storming off.

Andrea is too busy being blinded by new dick to get that Michonne was just trying to keep them safe. The Governor, Merle and some of the other men track down the pilot's squad and gun them down. They bring their weapons and military trucks back to the town where he makes a rousing speech lying to  his people that the soldiers were un-dead when they found them. This guy is like a better looking Mitt Romney. Intrigued and probably horny, Andrea asks The Governor what his real name is. "I never tell," he says walking off. Getting a good look at the townspeople, none of them are particularly attractive so I get why she would go for him, but Andrea latches on to any penis that shows her even the slightest bit of attention. Let's ignore the instincts of the woman that kept you alive for months, something tells me Andrea dumped many a friend in the "old world" whenever she got a new guy. Later that night in his apartment, The Governor retreats to a private room to sit and reflect with a drink and his wall of severed heads. The guy keeps heads in fish tanks. The last guy Andrea messed around tried to murder his best friend and possibly got said best friend's wife pregnant. Let this go!

The "Walkers Of The Week" is a double header, ha ha. R.I.P to Michonne's pets, which you may or may not know were her boyfriend and his best friend.
