The Walking Dead is back! After an explosive (literally) finale, the characters find themselves back in the same situation, trying to find a safer place to stay, and trying to avoid being eaten.
Just to catch you up a bit, Sheriff Rick Grimes was left in a hospital during a zombie outbreak, after he left he encountered Morgan (whom he still corresponds with over radio) and his son Duane. After making the mistake of venturing into the city, he meets Glenn, Andrea, T-Dog and some other survivors who have been hiding out in a department store. The group leave the city and make it to the camp where Rick's wife Lori, and their son Carl are living.
While Rick was away, his best friend and partner Shane looked after them, and eventually got busy with Lori. At the end of the season, the group makes it's way to the CDC where they meet doctor Edwin Jenner who has been looking for a cure for the disease that caused the outbreak. Believing that there is no hope, the doctor and another member of the group, Jacqui, decide to stay as the building is set to self destruct. Andrea wants to stay too, after he sister is bitten by a zombie and then she is forced to kill her again, but Dale convinces her to leave.
So here we are. The group stops on a highway out of Atlanta when they are forced to hide as a hoard of zombies wonders by. Andrea is in the camper by herself when one wonders in and almost kills her. Sophia, the daughter of Carol, is scared off by a walker and runs into the woods. Rick goes off to help her and tells her to run off back to the highway while he distracts the walkers in the woods. Sophia never makes it back and the others spend most of their times in the woods looking for her.
Meanwhile, Andrea and Shane are both looking for a way out. Shane wants to leave because Lori wants nothing to do with him anymore, and Andrea wants to start a new life somewhere else but Dale wants her to stay. Rick, Shane and Carl decide to stay behind at a church in case Sophia comes there. As they are walking back to the highway, they spot a deer and suddenly Carl is shot.
There were a couple of tense moments during this episode, but the interpersonal drama always drags the show down a bit for me. So what can we look forward to this season? Lots of dead bodies and guts, Andrea talking about how much she wants to leave and lots of crying.
The biggest question from me is, where is Merle?!
