True Blood Finale: Evil Is Going On

I'm sure I'm not the only one that was a bit let down by this season's finale of True Blood.  It's been a lackluster season overall, but it had it's moments.

The build up to Eric trying to kill Russell wasn't as great as last year's finale with Maryann.  She had to go, while we don't mind Russell hanging out for a little while longer.  As Russell and Eric smolder out in the sunlight, he still kept  the sadistic charm I have grown to love over the past couple of weeks.  Godric appears to Eric, telling him to let Russell live, that everyone deserves forgiveness.  Eric isn't trying to hear all that from Tiny Buddha;  he has his family's deaths to avenge thankyouverymuch.

Sookeh and Beeel

Healed by Bill's blood, Sookie goes outside to save Eric. Russell pisses her off enough for her to use her powers to break their cuffs.  Against the wishes of everyone, Eric decides to let Russell live and they chain him to the stripper pole in the middle of Fangtasia. Something I noticed is that they seem to have a lot of latex gloves around.  If you guys didn't have so much silver around, you wouldn't need them.

NO, Sookie!

Sookie picks the most random times to try to be a badass.  She babysits Russell while the others sleep, and also renounces her invitations to her house from all of them.  He tries to make a bargain with her, he'll kill Bill and Eric (either both or just one) if she lets him go. For a minute, it seemed like she was seriously considering the idea.  The 3 million dollars and his house didn't sound too bad either.  She realizes that he wants to use her blood to try to resurrect his beloved Talbot and takes pure delight in putting his gooey remains down the garbage disposal. Alcide shows up, all Brawny-like, and flirts with her a bit.  He's been thinking about her a lot and having dreams about her? Oh okay, you knew her for days, guy. In exchange for settling his father's debts, Alcide agrees to help Eric move Russell to his final resting place.

Tara and Lettie Mae

Tara watches Nan Flanagan debating Steve Newlin on TV while Sam makes her a post-coital breakfast.  He tells her that he's a shape shifter, and I guess hopes the hotcakes make up for that.  Tara has been through enough this season that her reaction to him being a supernatural was natural.  She decides to take Sam's advice and keep moving. She visits her mother, who has been having an affair with Reverend Daniels, to say a goodbye. The old Tara would have went off on her, but she simply wishes her the best. Tara didn't seem like herself so the scene of her holding the scissors felt weird.  She finally gets rid of those braids, a symbol of her letting go of all of the pain. She and Sookie eat together and again, she says goodbye.  We don't know where she's going, but hopefully it's to a better place where she can have some peace. Her cousin Lafayette is still dealing with the effects of his and Jesus' drug filled-journey.  Jesus tells him that he's a witch, and Laffy is actually cool with that. Gay witches are the fiercest of all witches, of course.

I can't say that I really care about Jason's rapid descent into stupidity, but he is growing up. The DEA is in Bon Temps, trying to prepare for the raid on Hot Shot. Jason and CrystalMeth go to warn the people when Felton shoots one of his brothers, and his dad Calvin. He takes the extra V and makes Crystal go with him.  She tells Jason to help the people there any way he can. So now Jason is the Mayor of Hillbilly Junction?  Of course Andy is none too pleased to hear about this but as Jason said, "sometimes the right thing to do is the wrong thing." He's no poet but he's right.  Hoyt finally decided to man up and stand up to his mother. She staged a vampire intervention for him with Summer and his old high school counselor. "You're not a real therapist. We all know you have a bottle of Malibu rum in your desk." The problem with that being? Later we see him leading Jessica, blindfolded, into the house he is buying for the two of them. As if the old, dirty doll wasn't enough of an ominous sign, we see Maxine buying a rifle.  Anyone else catch the poster of Obama in the gun store?

Sam goes by Arlene's to apologize to Terry. I wish I knew someone like Terry Bellefleur in real life, just you know, not as shell shocked. He's so happy, if only he knew that Arlene was trying to get rid of the baby. His house has been trashed, and going back to Merlotte's Sam sees that his money is done. He tracks down Tommy later that night, they both could have apologized but hey, they are dogs. After he refuses to give the money back, Sam shoots him.  At a construction site, Bill and Eric bury Russell under cement. Eric sees Godric again, he's making him weep. You're dead, Godric.  Go away.

The always out-of-breath, Sophia Anne and Bill

Bill shakes Eric's hand and then slaps a silver cuff on him, where do they keep getting these?  He pushes him into another open pit and begins filling it with cement, and then calls a hit out on Pam by disguising his voice.  Showing up to Sookie's house, he tells her than that he is trying to get rid of everyone that has tasted her blood. He conveniently leaves himself off this list. Eric shows up (um, how did he get out?) and forces Bill to tell Sookie the truth about everything.  He has been working for Sophie Anne to get her blood, and hired two men to beat her up so that he could taste her blood. If you remember, this all happened in the first episode and this was the first time I said eff you Bill Compton. We were rooting for you!  We were all rooting for you!  Okay, not really. The Queen meets Bill at his house, and is less than pleased that he doesn't have Sookie for her. They decide to fight it out, vampire Matrix style. Sookie runs to talk to Gran, and once again meets Claudine and her fairy family.  Apparently, they all travel in a big chandelier.  How fancy.

Cliffhangers and crap that needs to be answered next season:

How long will Sookie stay with the fairies?  All that light and awkward dancing will get old after awhile.

Where is Tara going and why didn't she tell anyone she was leaving?

Will Maxine shoot Hoyt or Jessica? Or both?

Did Sam kill Tommy or just shoot him in the butt?

Will Arlene stop being terrible and just be happy with Terry?

Will Andy finally take some of that V he has been lustfully staring at all season?

How is Merlotte's still in business?

Will Jason get all of the people in Hot Shot dental care?

How awesome and fabulous will Lafayette and Jesus be as a witch couple?

Will that GQMF Russell come back with a vengeance?

Will Bill finally get a haircut and will Evan Rachel Wood stops talking like she's out of breath?

Well, it was fun my dears. Until next time...Brittani ~ The Girl You Want
